We recently held the first event in our online lecture series, a collaboration between the Katz Center at the University of Pennsylvania, the Weitzman Jewish Museum, Koret Center, and ANU – Museum of the Jewish People.
The series, titled “Trauma and Healing in Israel Today,” explores contemporary topics in health and medicine in Israel. Over the years, Israel has earned a reputation for medical innovation and progress, with a strong focus on public health as a core part of nation-building. Experts shared valuable insights into how Israeli professionals and researchers are addressing modern challenges, including pandemics, trauma, family planning, and more.
In this lecture, Professor Bruria Adini presented findings from a long-term study on resilience during the Israel-Gaza conflict. The research revealed that personal resilience improved over time, while community and social resilience declined—a critical insight for shaping future emergency policies and community support, particularly for vulnerable populations.
Professor Adini, head of the Department of Emergency and Disaster Management at Tel Aviv University, is a leading expert in health systems management, specializing in emergency preparedness and response.
