Evening Event: New Formats in Digital Platforms
At ANU – Museum of the Jewish People, a special evening celebrated the creative achievements of students from the Steve Tisch School of Film and Television at Tel Aviv University. The event marked the culmination of a collaborative course titled “New Formats on Digital Platforms”, led by interactive media and XR expert, Nofar Laor.
The course explores how technology and storytelling intersect, challenging students to create immersive narratives using cutting-edge formats like virtual reality, augmented reality, and digital games. Working in teams, students developed original interactive experiences inspired by the museum’s core themes—Jewish history, culture, and contemporary identity.
The final projects offered a wide spectrum of experiences: a digital game exploring Jewish fashion from around the world, an augmented reality escape room that dives into the story of the Jewish mafia in the U.S., and a theatrical, interactive tribute to the legendary singer Leila Mourad. All projects were created in close collaboration with ANU’s curatorial team, and drew significant interest from attendees.
The evening also featured a gallery talk moderated by curator Michal Huminner, highlighting the powerful synergy between academia and cultural institutions, and how emerging media technologies can make history and heritage come alive in fresh, engaging ways.
