Genealogist Jenny Milgrom was raised as a Catholic in Cuba before immigrating to the United States. A personal journey to trace her family roots led her to a surprising discovery: she is a descendant of the Martyr Jews. This revelation inspired her to convert to Judaism. The film “Between the Stone and the Flower” chronicles her fascinating journey, highlighting genealogical findings related to the Jews refugee from the inquisition. history. Since this discovery, Milgrom has authored five books on the topic, including a recipe book featuring dishes of the Martyr Jews. In a special event held by the Anu Museum’s Archive staff, visitors had an opportunity to join a guided tour of the Martyrs’ Center at the museum, participate in a screening of the film, as well as a conversation with Jenny Milgrom, the film’s creator and genealogist. This was the film’s first screening in Israel after being showcased at numerous festivals worldwide. Following the screening, Ms. Milgrom engaged in a discussion with the audience about how her research and conclusions have helped bridge connections between communities around the world and Israel.
