The Koret Center for Jewish Civilization at Tel Aviv University invites researchers from the Faculty of Humanities at Tel Aviv University, as well as PhD students who have completed their studies, to submit proposals for grants to support the publication of manuscripts on Jewish civilization. The goal is to encourage new academic publications that will advance the field of research, focusing on diversity, creativity, and change within Jewish civilization. The grants will be awarded on a competitive basis, and the Koret Center is not obligated to provide the full requested amount. Proposals may be submitted for books by individual authors, translations of existing books, or new collections of articles. The application must include a signed contract with the publisher, a breakdown of costs and funding sources, and an estimated publication date. Awardees are required to acknowledge the contribution of the Koret Center in all future publications. Proposals should be submitted via email to the Koret Center for Jewish Civilization and include the book title, subject, publisher, requested grant amount, funding breakdown, a cover letter with a table of contents and the book’s significance, an English abstract and sample chapter, a CV, a list of publications, and a recommendation letter from the head of the department.
The Koret Center supports outstanding research in Jewish Civilization through two-year postdoctoral fellowships. Open to scholars in fields like Archaeology, Jewish History, Hebrew Language, and Jewish Philosophy, the fellowship fosters innovative research, professional mentorship, and collaboration.
Eligible candidates must have completed their PhD between October 1, 2020, and September 1, 2025 (with exceptions for maternity leave) and must not hold a PhD from Tel Aviv University. Fellows will receive an annual stipend of $42,000, with partially subsidized housing available for non-Israeli scholars.
Fellows are required to lead seminars, present research, and actively participate in Koret Center activities. Up to four fellowships will be awarded, starting on October 1, 2025.
Applications must include a CV, research plan (max. 3 pages), PhD summary (max. 2 pages), and two recommendation letters. The deadline for submissions is February 23, 2025, and decisions will be announced by April 10, 2025.
