Hephzibah Project Training
A Jewish leadership training event, held by the Koret Center at the ANU Museum in July 2023, hosted dozens of educators who are this year’s participants in the Ministry of Education’s Hephzibah project. The project aims to nurture, deepen, and establish the Jewish identity and connection of young individuals to their heritage and to the Israeli homeland. During this program, teachers from Israel embark on emissaries in one of the countries of the former Soviet Union.
The Ministry of Education continues to employ these teachers on their travels, though they perform their work in local Jewish schools abroad, whether government or privately owned, provided they affiliate with Jewish-Israeli affairs.
They teach local pupils Hebrew, tradition, and Jewish history and hold extracurricular activities on Jewish and Israeli matters.During the delegation’s stay, we have seen connections tighten between local Jewish communities in the former Soviet Union and representatives of the Israeli delegation, as well as meaningful and inspiring personal connections forged between the local pupils and the visiting educators.
