Koret Center 2023 Global Conference for Jewish Civilization and Peoplehood
At a time of heightened tension and uncertainty, it is essential to create a shared understanding, vision, and set of goals around global Jewish peoplehood. The Koret Center has the mandate and intention to harness insights that are generated through our activities and transform them into groundbreaking solutions for some of our core issues.
One such activity was the Jewish Civilization and Peoplehood Global Conference. This conference was the center’s first-ever global conference, designed to act as a launchpad for cross-pollination between academia, education and leadership. It was a pioneering attempt to step out of the box and create a shared global safe space to discuss challenges in the Jewish world.
The groundbreaking event, which took place on April 27-28, 2023, brought together thought leaders, scholars, researchers, educators, and leadership development professionals from around the world, all of whom share a deep commitment to enhancing Jewish belonging and analyzing their respective fields, to forge a shared vision for the future of the Jewish people. The conference was a unique and innovative space for Israelis and global to come together; and where, over 80 leading visionaries addressed the pressing challenges and opportunities facing Jewish educators and leaders today. The conference featured a number of different small breakout sessions, encouraging intimate discussions and the sharing of diverse perspectives.
The conference focused on the future: how do we envision Jewish Civilization will develop in the coming decades? What changes would we like to create and how can we create them? The primary goal was not merely to develop a planning program, but rather to foster a new and insightful discourse on Judaism, while simultaneously establishing a network of connections amongst scholars, thinkers, educators, and social leaders, with the intention of providing a strong foundation for future endeavors and collaborations.
